DEMS' RULES REFORMS ARE A BAND-AID ON A BULLET WOUND

“If you look at the dictionary definition of political grandstanding, you would probably find the so-called ‘reforms’ we voted on today in Albany. Putting committee votes online would not have stopped Sheldon Silver from using his power and influence to accumulate millions in dirty money and run Albany like an organized crime ring for decades.

ASSEMBLY DEMS PROTECT THEIR OWN, PAD NYC COFFERS

“No surprise once again, but entrenched Assembly Democrats constructed an Assembly One-House Budget that includes billions in tax increases, coffers for college tuition of illegal aliens and more welfare loopholes. The tax-and-spend mentality is apparent once again as Medicaid, one of the most powerful driving forces in soaring property-taxes, remains among the largest expenditures along with downstate issues like the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The Democrats’ budget also fails to include any middle-class tax cuts, aid for our struggling small businesses or mandate relief.

McLAUGHLIN SLAMS GOV. ON HEELS OF NEW SAFE-ACT NUMBERS

After the release of new statistics demonstrating glaring inefficiencies in the NY SAFE Act, Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C,I-Schaghticoke) is calling for a full repeal of the 2013 law. The report, issued by Gannett, shows that the vast majority (81%) of violations took place in New York City, and upstate had roughly one-sixth  the number of cases as  downstate. McLAUGHLIN: HOOSICK FALLS NEXT FLINT MICHIGAN THANKS TO CUOMO AND CRONIES?

Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C,I-Schaghticoke) today criticized the New York State Department of Health’s (DOH) handling of the water contamination issue in Hoosick Falls. McLAUGHLIN: ASSEMBLY GOP TRIUMPHS OVER DEMS AS WOMEN'S PROTECTIONS TAKE EFFECT

“I am proud to announce on behalf of New York’s women that measures to protect women from abuses such as sexual harassment, domestic violence and pregnancy discrimination in the workplace became law today,” McLaughlin said. “As historic as today is, it is shameful that for two years Assembly Democrats tried using these measures as political leverage instead of sending them to the floor for a vote. This is a testament to the fact that downstate Democrats would rather preserve their own wealth and power than do what is right for our mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts. I am proud to be part of the movement with Assembly Republicans as we finally broke down the political barriers in Albany to ensure these measures became law.”

Assemblyman McLaughlin represents the 107th district, which consists of parts of Rensselaer, Columbia and Washington counties. For more information,
