McLAUGHLIN: PRISONER PRIVILEGES LIMITATION LAW WILL PREVENT PRISON BREAKS, KEEP VIOLENT FELONS BEHIND BARS

Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C,I-Schaghticoke) today joined members of the Assembly Republican Conference to introduce legislation that will prevent future prison breaks and abuses by incarcerated violent felons. The legislation is awaiting a bill number in the Assembly but is being carried by Sen. Patrick Gallivan as S.5978.

“First and foremost, we all stand behind NYSCOPBA and the dangerous jobs they navigate every day,” McLaughlin said. “This is not about pointing the finger or assigning blame, but rather about enacting common-sense legislation that will prevent a prison escape plan. Our goal here is to remove avenues and opportunities for escape from a prison and prevent violent felons from entering society as they have done in Dannemora.”

Assemblyman McLaughlin represents the 107th district, which consists of parts of Rensselaer, Columbia and Washington counties. For more information,
