“Nothing that happened this week can be remotely classified as democracy. It is blatantly obvious that Albany will perpetuate its old ways of closed-door budget negotiations, disenfranchising millions of New Yorkers in exchange for absolute power and control.

“According to Cuomo, having the ‘most transparent administration in history’ means voting on bills with just minutes to read them, intentionally omitting controversial policies to silence dissent and threatening legislators to get your way.

“On the upside, we have secured a full restoration of the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) education cuts, passed a $1 billion middle-class tax cut, and secured $25 million in new funding to combat our heroin and opioid epidemic.

“But, Cuomo’s minimum wage hike and slashes to the agriculture industry will ruin the upstate economy and force small businesses, farms and their job opportunities out of state.”
