Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R,C,I-Schaghticoke) has called on every Republican in the New York State Legislature to step up and support Republican challenger Rob Astorino in his battle to unseat Gov. Andrew Cuomo this fall. McLaughlin pointed out the myriad disasters inherent in the Cuomo Administration and how New York has severely regressed under Cuomo’s leadership.
“The people of New York deserve a better governor,” McLaughlin said. “I have been fighting Cuomo’s tyranny and failed leadership for years, but I can’t do it alone. That is why I have asked for my Republican colleagues to help Rob Astorino defeat Andrew Cuomo. This year looks promising for Republican candidates, but we need a groundswell of statewide support to take down Cuomo and his cronies.”
McLaughlin’s comments come after he sent a letter to every GOP state legislator asking for financial and other support for the Astorino campaign. McLaughlin noted that some colleagues are sitting on lucrative campaign accounts without opponents, and that a small donation would go a long way toward defeating Cuomo. McLaughlin has been one of Gov. Cuomo’s most outspoken critics for years and has been on the forefront calling out the governor for his sea of corruption and failed policies.
