K - 12 Education at a Crossroads:

A Forum on the Impacts of Testing and Mandates

Sponsored by Members of Capital Region Legislative Delegation

Wednesday, June 5, 2013
3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Legislative Office Building,
Conference Room 711-A
Albany, New York

“Building off of my successful Education Summit in April, I’m proud to continue the conversation in a bi-partisan way by hosting a forum on the impacts testing and mandates have on our school districts with my Capital Region state legislative colleagues,” said Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin. “Our tremendous educators have the great responsibility of teaching our youth, and for far too long, those making decisions affecting classrooms have not reached out to them to gain their valuable input. My Education Summit was the first step in correcting that and this forum is the next step of that conversation.”

School districts across the region are feeling the strain of increased testing and related state and federal mandates. To give voice to these concerns, Capital Region state legislators will host a local forum to hear from educators and parents about the Impact of State Mandates and Testing on K-12 Students on Wednesday, June 5th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Legislative Office Building, Conference Room 711-A. The forum will provide an opportunity to hear from urban, rural, and suburban school districts on these challenges and all are welcome to attend.
