“In an effort to salvage abysmal approval ratings, especially among upstate voters, Gov. Cuomo has finally changed his tune on the Common Core Standards. Unfortunately, I don’t think he has seen the light but rather the polls.
“I am happy for our state’s students, parents, and teachers that Gov. Cuomo has finally decided to conduct a comprehensive review of the implementation of the Common Core Standards, but his decision comes far too late. The Assembly Republican Conference, along with statewide input from students, educators and parents and has fought these dreadfully-implemented standards for more than two years while Gov. Cuomo and his State Ed. cronies pushed it full steam ahead.
“This is a complete and utter flip-flop on a program he fully endorsed and slammed down our throats mere months ago. Does he expect people to forget that? This is a massive victory for New York’s education system and we can only hope the governor doesn’t flip-flop back again.”
